What is SWING Trading?

After purchasing shares of a stock, depending on how long you hold the stock for will determine the type of trade or investment you are doing.

When you buy and hold a stock for several days to several weeks and then sell, that is called a "SWING trade".

Below are different scenarios, we call "PLAYS" that members can use to SWING Trade.

PLAY #1:

When DOW drops 500 points or more and the NASDAQ and S&P500 Drop Significantly as well

When the major indexes drop significantly due to MACRO Events, there is high probability they will  reverse over the next few days to a week and run back up creating a Swing Opportunity. Below are the steps to run the play. Note Swing Trading caries RISK just like all trading and investing. There is no guarantee the stock you swing will go back up in price.

Step 1:

Look at the DOW, NASDAQ and S&P500

Click HERE and See DOW, NASDAQ, S&P500 in Real Time

Here is what it will look like enlarged

Step 2:

Click on S&P 500 or NASDAQ or DOW or Russell 2000 or Combo buttons below

NOTE: You might need Finviz Elite to select "Custom". Finviz Elite is an additional fee and provides additional features. Shop For Stocks Online does not own Finviz, we use it as a tool and our Shop For Stocks Online Interface sits on top of FinViz

Step 3:

Look at the first 10 stocks listed sorted from highest price drop to lowest price drop

Step 4:

Select the stock you want to swing. In this EXAMPLE:

I selected LBRT It is on sale for $19.62 (21.96% down) on 7/23/26

Step 5:

Watch and Buy

Watch the stock price for another day or two to see if it drops in price even more or starts to increase.

Click BUY to review and follow steps to BUY the stock and place a trail stop on the stock using the website (not the app)

BUY

Step 6:

SELL

Once the stock has risen in price to your desired price, SELL (Ex: Stock moves up $2 from your purchase price. Say you have 200 shares and it moves up $2 =$400 Profit).

Also when the price increases your trailing stop will move up trapping in profits and your trail stop might get triggered and automatically sell for you. (if during regular market hours of 9:30am to 4pm
